The Mountain Story

November 28, 2008

“A son and his father were walking on the mountains.

Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams: “AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!”

To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain: “AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!”

Curious, he yells: “Who are you?”

He receives the answer: “Who are you?”

And then he screams to the mountain: “I admire you!”

The voice answers: “I admire you!”

Angered at the response, he screams: “Coward!”

He receives the answer: “Coward!”

He looks to his father and asks: “What’s going on?”

The father smiles and says: “My son, pay attention.”

Again the man screams: “You are a champion!”

The voice answers: “You are a champion!”

The boy is surprised, but does not understand.

Then the father explains: “People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE.

It gives you back everything you say or do.

Our life is simply a reflection of our actions.

If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart.

If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence.

This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life;

Life will give you back everything you have given to it.”

Trust, Hope, and Faith

November 27, 2008

What do you do when things go astray? How do you function when things do not go your way? To whom do you turn? Many turn to God, some turn to friends, some will go to their family. What do you do?

Some turn to drugs, some turn to alcohol, some take a break and go “get a smoke”. Some gamble, some turn to unhealthy relationships. Many will eat, so even if they won’t have their challenge resolved, they will at least feel satisfied and more comfortable in the moment because they, at least, have a “full feeling” from a full belly.

If you notice, everyone in these cases is looking for a sense a reassurance. They want a feeling of comfort. They all want to feel like things are going to be better. The real question is, regardless of any particulars, won’t the challenges that you face go away, some way, some how, at some point down the road? For the most part, of course they will. This is not to trivialize circumstances in any way, however we all know that things happen and things change, whether we like it or not.

Just like the stock market, things do up and things go down. Remember, that even though things go down, it does not mean that they have to stay there. You can choose to allow things to fluctuate on their own or you can also work to have those things triumphantly return. This is your choice.

Remember, even as the stock market sinks in today’s economy, you can choose to look at fluctuations in two different ways. In an unstable market, one may think that the world is ending. They prematurely pull all of their money and investments because they believe that even if they can pull a portion of the money, they feel more comfortable than potentially losing the whole amount. Again, it is a feeling of comfort.

On the other end, what if, while the market goes down, which means that it is extremely cheap, and you invest? If you invest low, when the price goes up, you could make a bundle!  It’s about being smart and doing the right things at the right times.

If I had told you in the late 1990’s, that you could buy GM stock for $1.50, which was trading above $50?  Wouldn’t you have jumped on it? That would have been a GREAT DEAL, right!?!? Of course it would have. Well, just the other day GM’s stock fell to near that price. Then about an hour later the price went up to nearly $3.50. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but the truth is, that in comparison to the low of $1.50, it was a GREAT deal!  The price doubled! If you would have bought just before the increase, you would have doubled your money in a couple of hours!

Remember, everything is always relevant in comparison to something else. Additionally, things are not always as bad as you may think. Things are only bad because that is YOUR interpretation of things.

If you change your perspective, you change your ability to change your environment. With that being said; at the beginning I mentioned that people do many things to feel better about their circumstances. Instead of turning to many other “outside things” to use as a (and many times well intentioned) “hit” or in some cases “a crutch”, what if you just began to feel better…? …feel better in general and specifically about your circumstances? What if you just started to feel hope? What if you just had faith? What if you just started to trust? If you could, which you can, wouldn’t your life change? Of course it would!  You can feel great at any time regardless of your circumstances – this is a key to the Law of Attraction!

Don’t believe what anyone else tells you that you don’t want to believe. You are in control of you. You are not just a fishing bobber on the open ocean. You are a smart, thinking, crafty human being with thoughts, feelings, and the ability to take action. Determine what you want out of life regardless of circumstances, make a plan, improve how you feel, and take massive action. I have faith in you and that things will change…. And in the meantime, stay positive!  Trust, hope and have faith (in God and) in the best investment EVER – YOU! – Double opt in to be instantly emailed my free ebook – The Top 10 Secrets Of The Law of Attraction!

This was from an email that was forwarded to me.  I don’t know if it is true, however, it does make you think…

If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely

open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an

absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight

from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as

is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a

prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.

The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkable nimble

creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is

placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about

helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight

elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once,

it takes off like a flash.

A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it

dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the

top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides

near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it

completely destroys itself.

In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat, and the bumblebee. We

struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing

that all we have to do is look up!

In light of the Election today, today could not be a better time for this post.

Change is an interesting topic.  As you probably know, this topic has been thrown around during the election cycle like it is a hot potato in an overcrowded kitchen. Additionally, the topic of change has been the hottest topic in all major media outlets recently.  In fact, in marketing, the most overused phrases are “new and improved.”  Overall, change is something that is different, which means that it is not necessarily good, and at the same time, it is not necessarily bad.

The real question becomes what kind of change do you want?  Do you want things to get better?  Or are you content with ANY change and you will accept “bad” change, as long as it qualifies under the banner of “change”?

This begs the question, what do you REALLY want?  Think about that – what do you REALLY want?  It’s a pretty broad question, I know.  What do you want for your life?  What do you want for your career?  What do you want for your family?  What do you want for your health?  What results do you want in your finances?  Overall, these are all great questions to be considered because change happens all of the time whether we actively pursue it or not – and you need to determine what you want for yourself.

The challenge is that most people make decisions (or change rather) by looking at the past.  They make decisions by looking at the pain that they have experienced in the past.  Sadly, the chances of success of this strategy are about as good as driving down a busy highway while looking out the back window.  As you obviously know, this strategy is destined for failure!

The best strategy is totally different!  Figure out what you want and go for it!  It is that simple!  Determine your outcome, develop a plan, and execute that plan.  The path to success is very simple – perhaps the beginnings are a tad difficult.  Figure out your outcome and make it happen!

The real question becomes – regardless of the past, what do you want to happen?  What results do you want to have?  You are in control and you need to lead YOU!

Before you decide that you want change, stop and consider your perspective.  Decide what you want for your outcome and then go for it!  This easy, process oriented strategy is the best strategy for positive change (no matter how you vote!)!!!

For a great resource on the Law of Attraction:

In times of economic crisis, everything looks bad. Stocks go down, prices go up. Everything seems to shift toward the downside.

To iterate the current economy, things are a bit sporty. We look to have inflation rise, our dollar is worth less than we prefer for it to be, gasoline prices are high and some stations are even running out of gas.

On a different note of uncertainty, some parts of the US have really bad weather. Other parts can’t even buy rain…. Wars and skirmishes are breaking out on many fronts, and many new wars lurk around the corner. Our banking institutions are having trouble and taxpayers are on the line for bailing them out. Regardless, we face uncertain economics, a looming depression, and overall grave situations in our world.

On top of this we have political challenges in the US and an election right around the corner to determine the direction and fate of our country for the next 4 plus years. No matter which party you tend to frequent, you probably think well, there’s one candidate that I don’t like and the other I can tolerate, so the choices are perfect. And whomever gets elected is really not going to be able to steer the country out of it’s current situation any time soon, if at all. Let’s face it, these current times look bleak… Really bleak…. The question is, are things really bleak? Or is that simply how we interpret the situation?

Everything in this world is a product of who we are. Everything that we see, witness, or interpret is a matter of how we filter the world. Importantly, how we filter the world, determines how we feel. Ultimately, we are the key because we determine how we feel.

If we determine how we feel, we are in control of our own world. We may not be in control of all of the outside forces and factors, however, we determine how we are going to react in any situation. If we control how we feel, we control our results and therefore our outcomes.

Many people tend to focus on how things should be, or how things aren’t good right the moment. Perhaps a better approach is to appreciate where things are right this moment? Maybe you can focus on feelings of gratitude and success-based results. If you begin to focus on the great things that you have right now and the things that you really want to you have, you will begin to steer your results in the direction of your dreams regardless of outside factors.

Ups and Downs

August 18, 2008

Just like any roller coaster, life can be full of ups and downs. Of course, the ride can be terrifying and uncertain at times. When you stop to think about it, isn’t that the point? Isn’t the thrill, the uncertainty the beauty of the ride in the first place? Without that thrill, the ride would be worthless, dull, and boring – the challenge is vital to really living life.

Obviously, life can, at times, be a challenge, and that is a major point of importance. Certain circumstances can catch all of us off-guard. The real test is how do you react to those situations? The question is – when things get ornery, how do you act? How do you carry yourself? Do you come from a place of power or do you retreat to habitually destructive patterns and emotions? To insert the ultimate coaching questions – how do you want to feel, how do you want to react, and what kind of results do you want to have?

To further the feelings mantra, it is important to keep your feelings in check. Since emotions create our reality, when things go awry, it is paramount to be grateful, be grateful for what you have right now. Be grateful with where you are because as the ups and downs of life happen, unfortunately, you may not get back to your current point for some time, and this is simply reality. Even if things get better, aren’t you glad that you enjoyed the moment where you were previously and where you are now?

Of course things can always get better and as any reasonable person can begrudgingly admit, things could also get worse. Regardless, it is vital for you to be optimistic, just know that things are great where they are right now, and you can influence any outcome.

Again, things can always go either direction, up or down and with positive thoughts, feelings, and actions, things will go in the desired direction. In the meantime, be grateful for what you have because when you treat this moment, right now, as the best moment that you have ever had, it will naturally become the best moment ever despite circumstances. Some say fake it “til you make it,’ regardless, I say, “do what you have to do to appreciate the moment right now.” Remember, this moment is the only moment that you ever have because all life is a series of “nows” all strung together, and if you wait for something great to happen in the future, it will never happen. In order to live a life of passion, embrace every moment, this “now,” no matter what you might normally think of it. Why not make every moment as great and as passionate as you can possibly make it, and why make this moment great right now?

Truthfully, you may not feel perfect every single minute of your life, but what if your life could be 10% happier than it is right now? What if you made this moment the most exciting, the most passionate moment of your life? If you can live life at this level, how much more “worth living” will your life become? Additionally, if you live such a great life, won’t you attract more great things into your life? Won’t you attract more great people and opportunities into your life? Of course you will – that is the Law of Attraction.

Live this moment like you might not have such a moment as this….

The idea of attitude is an interesting topic because the concept of attitude is elusive. Not many people understand it, nor do they know really what an “attitude” is. They don’t know what to do with their attitude, good or bad, and they certainly do not know how to change it. Truthfully, people do not know how important their attitude is and how that attitude translates into the results that they have in their lives.

As you may have heard, attitude is everything. Earl Nightingale, the pioneer in the personal development world, states that the biggest difference between winners and losers is their attitude. So what does your attitude say about you?

If you want to be a winner or even a bigger winner, what do you do? What can you do? Well change your attitude of course. Unfortunately, the statement of “changing your attitude” is like talking a foreign language to most and if someone really wants to change, they obviously need help.

Simply put, your attitude is really your psychology. No big stretch of the imagination there. Your attitude stems from your mind and how you perceive the world. This perception of the world is also called your “model of the world.”

Your “model of the world” incorporates many things. Your beliefs, values, feelings, rules, and decisions, all comprise your model of the world. A good way to understand the “model of the world” concept is that the concept is like wearing a certain pair of glasses with colored lenses. Your interpretation of the world is “skewed” based upon your “model of the world.” The interpretation will always come from your mindset of how you, or anyone, perceives the world and its happenings. If you believe that the world is a great place, you are “tuned in” to find all of the great things in life. In contrast, if you believe that a certain thing is bad, then you tend to find all of the bad things. Your interpretation always comes down to your psychology and how you interpret the world, which is your “world.”

A good question is – can you change your attitude or “model of the world?” The simple answer is “yes.” A change can be quick, made by a simple decision. Other therapeutic methods are available as well which are equally as quick, unfortuntately, we won’t get into those means here. (Additionally, one must have a driving reason why to change, otherwise their level of comfort and their desire to remain comfortable will overrule any desire to change.) Ultimately, the main point is that you can change and you, and only you, are in charge of your attitude.

The typical attitude that you keep will yield certain results. When you have a “good” attitude, good things happen to you, and it is not just your interpretation. The opposite is true as well. When you have a great attitude you will get the “benefit of the doubt” or to put it in baseball terms, “the tie goes to the runner.” You will come out more on the winning end if you have the right perspective and this is one of the keys to creating the life that you desire.

Why not positively consider all of the great things in your life? Why not take an “I can do it” attitude? Why not have a positive, results-focused, outcome-orientated, perspective and see where that attitude gets you during the next month? If you don’t like the results, you can always go back to having a “bad attitude” again, can’t you? The results for your life are your choice and they are in your hands.

As you pursue your dreams, know that you will be infinitely more successful by taking a positive approach. One of the great principles of the Universe, as you probably know by now, is the Law of Attraction. Loosely put, if you have the right attitude and the right psychology (as you make the right efforts, through Quantum Mechanics), your dreams will be attracted to you. You will find that it is easier to have your dreams come to you as you make the consistent effort to stay within the laws of the Universe, rather than erratically “stalk” your dreams because of your “they must be mine” attitude. When you master these basic principles of the Universe, your life will transform quickly and it will be magical – all because of your great, positive attitude!

Good Day!

June 10, 2008

When we meet people, our greeting immediately says a lot about who we are. When I meet people I do my best to greet that person extremely cordially and with affection. Why not make the meeting the best interaction you possibly can?

I take my good attitude wherever I may go because it is contagious. I may not always be in the best mood all of the time (because I am human), but I do stay as passionately happy as possible because I know that I can change the world one person at a time by my emotional state; as you can too.

Moreover, a great example can be found in the first part of most interactions with people. What is the most common question that nearly every one asks, yet no one really wants to know the answer? If you are like many, and you may ask this as well, people tend to ask me how I am doing. They’ll ask, “how are you doing?” Sadly, the common responses are “fine,” “good,” “ok,” and probably the worst is “not bad.” Blach! Pathetic! It is disgusting when people say such lame words – “not bad.” The funny thing here is that I didn’t ask you how you “are not,” I asked you how you are doing. That is the equivalent to introducing yourself by saying “hi, I’m not Steve.” How silly would that be? When you want to live your ideal life, make sure to use the positive and to say how you want it, specifically in this case – how you are doing. Crucially, I hope that every time you meet someone you use this time as an excuse to be feeling great, by saying “I am awesome!”

As you have probably guessed by now, language is one of the key factors to determine how you feel. If you say that you are doing great, eventually, even if you are not, you have to be doing great. This is a simple key to how emotions work. If you act as if you are feeling great, eventually you have to feel great because that is how our nervous system works. Even if things are not going so well for you in your life, why not be positive and continue as if things are great – because they are, if that is your intended outlook.

To add to the keys of feeling great emotions, smiles go a long way. In fact, smiles are also contagious. If you want to feel great, simply smile! And they are so easy to do. Aren’t you glad that you have the opportunity and can choose to smile?

Lastly, and this can apply to every area of your life, did you know that there is one single difference between intense rage and the feeling of passionate excitement? Do you know what that little difference is? You probably guessed it – it is a smile. Even if you experience intense, negative emotions, yet if you put a big cheesy grin on your face, you can not feel bad emotions! That is how our nervous system works. How great is that?!?!?

Make the choice to greet people warmly and to put a smile on other’s faces by first putting a smile on your face. A smile and a warm greeting is simple to accomplish. Go ahead, massively contribute to the planet today. If you dare, simply make a point to intentionally greet people with a big, warm smile on your face – and before you know it, you will begin to attract more great things into your life, instantly!

When anyone tells you that something is impossible what is your response? Not only your outward reaction, what are your inner thoughts? Do you accept it and go on thinking to yourself, “Yeah! It’s probably too hard too…” or “They’re right. That could never work.” Or do you just passively go on with your existence never to give it another thought?
Well listen. S T O P thinking that way. Before you achieve anything that you think may be even a little difficult, you must – repeat – YOU MUST own the belief that it is not only possible, it is probable. Then, owning that belief, ask yourself some very focused questions.

· What do I want?

· What is the first step I should take to be one step closer to achieve what I am after?

· Who can clear up any lack of knowledge that I need to achieve this?

· What is my plan to get from Point A to Point B?

The most important objective to achieve anything on this planet (or out of this world) is to believe. Without belief there is nothing.

Become what you focus on. Whether you want to or not you will become what you concentrate your efforts on. If you concentrate on achieving wealth, you will become aware of opportunities to achieve that wealth.

If you allow yourself to become consumed with bad things that happen to you, you will become a person that bad things happen to.

You need to become just like the person you want to be like. This requires reading and diving into the lives of those who have already achieved what you are striving for.

You must become a filter for what you allow in and what you push out. Do this by reading what you want to learn. Listen to audio books that support your goals. Talk with people who build up your ideas.

Just remember you will become what you want to achieve even if others say it’s impossible.

Beware of the idiots. I have a friend who has a brilliant outlook on life. He is an entrepreneur and has a lot of great ideas. Not only are they great ideas they actually make him money.

There are plenty of people who would look at him and his ideas and tear down any effort he would make at trying to achieve.

Here’s the part you need to adopt and adapt to your way of life.

To the people who tear down or do not support his ideas are automatically dismissed as idiots. Those who support him and his ideas are always geniuses. That’s a great way to win! Develop your genius tribe. Totally ignore and dismiss the idiot pool.

Now you don’t have to be so raw about it calling people idiots (although it may help). You can still apply the same principle. Beware of the nay-sayers. Embrace the encouragers. Surround yourself with geniuses. Few things will kill a million-dollar idea faster than idiots telling you it can’t work.

Be You
The last sentence “Few things will kill a million-dollar idea faster than an idiot telling you it can’t work” is SO true. Another thing that will kill a million-dollar idea faster than anything is not being yourself.

Being yourself is the most unique thing you can offer anyone. Why would you want to rob yourself of the most valuable asset you can offer?

Trying to be someone else is a nasty habit that is so transparent it turns off everyone who sees it. Don’t do it. No one likes a phony. But everyone loves those who love being themselves.

People are attracted to those who are glad to be themselves and are confident in who they are. These people understand that they are valuable being the only person they can be. Be yourself and don’t be ashamed of you.

Once you have accepted that you are valuable and are sure in who you are, you will begin to notice in a very short time that people will begin to be attracted to you. They will want to be around you and unconsciously want what you have got.

Use your YOU power. Be yourself and you  will be on your way to successful living.

Successful living isn’t easy. It’s simple but it isn’t necessarily easy. Stay tuned throughout the year for more valuable ideas and tools that will help you accomplish what others would call “The Impossible.”

Todd E. Gaster

Most think that they do not have a choice in life. I believe that we are conditioned to become indifferent and to simply follow a routine that someone else dictates for us. As Zig Ziglar says, “we are born to win and conditioned to lose.”

If you think about the natural progression of most people lives, our lives follow a certain path. You are born to parents who mean well, yet they are not perfect themselves, and they have their own patterns and imperfections that you unconsciously learn from them. It is difficult enough to learn and grow, especially in some environments that many people live, much less to have to deal with the added troubles that are thrust upon any individual by outside forces. Growth can be a daunting task at times.

At some point in our lives we start our education. We enter into a system that is run by imperfect people with their own emotional patterns and challenges. They have their own belief systems on how things ought to be. Whether they are right or wrong, the systems and the patterns of the people in the system are a significant dynamic. We spend 20,000 hours learning in an institution that recycles the same “people” – the teachers teach in the same system in which they were taught in the first place. No one ever questions the sensibility of this concept and they continue to teach things the “same ole things,” whether they were correct or not. The system is a system and that is what a system does; it keeps going without need for thought. All in all, we have been taught many things that are inaccurate or just flat out wrong, and you need to determine what those things are.

Then, we go to college because we have been told that the key to financial freedom is to get good grades, to get a diploma, go to work for a company and they will take care of us until we retire. How many of you have realized that this is not necessarily true? How many know of someone who has been laid off or fired? Where are the people who have been with a company for 40 years anymore? How many of you have realized that jobs don’t necessarily take care of people because companies must maximize profits and cut costs?

Things are supposed to change in the work world. For those who get jobs, they realize that things are not too far off from the same system that existed when they were younger, except they have the privilege of needing to exceed expectations or they get fired. Additionally, you tend to do all of the work compared to your coworkers and you know more than your ridiculous boss. And as a nice gesture, the company will pay you enough to stay, but not enough to live the life of your dreams. Then to reward your hard work, they let you take off most Saturdays, Sundays, and have two weeks off per year. Apparently, this is now the American dream – to get by?

Eventually, you work towards the golden years of retirement. You then have to live off of less than half of what you couldn’t afford to live off of in the first place. At this point, it is too late to do anything about your situation.

The point of all this is to say three very simple things are a major epidemic in our society. First, people are so busy that they never stop to think about what they want to do with their life. Second, they never put together a plan for their ideal life happen. Lastly, they don’t have the time to execute the plan (that they didn’t make in the first place) to make their dream become a reality. People just burn their lives away with the “get up, go to work, go home, go to bed, wake up, go to work, go home, go to bed,” hectic schedule as I like to call it. Unless you are completely thrilled with your current life and you never want anything to be better or different (and actually if you don’t make the effort to further yourself, you will tend to slide backwards), you need to step up and determine what you want for your life.

Since you have read this far and already invested a few minutes, it will not hurt you to spend one more minute on this topic. Do yourself a favor and ask yourself the following questions, if you could choose your ideal life, what would it be? How would you structure it? Write down a few sentences that grabs your attention. Make your outline your 2 minute masterpiece – the masterpiece for your life!

As you continue to focus on what you want, you are much more likely to attract that life into your existence. A simple plan is a glorious beginning! Furthermore, find resources that will help you. And lastly, remember, do the one thing that will separate you from everyone else in this world – choose!

From Matrix III – Revolutions:

Agent Smith: “…why must you persist?”

Neo: “…because I choose to….”
