When?

June 6, 2008

I sometimes wonder when certain things are going to happen in my life. We all can get impatient at times, but I simply think that I have really set the “impatient standard” at times with my expectation of certain things to come. This most certainly has been the case in the past in my life.

In my life, I frequently wondered when certain things were going to happen. I wondered – when am I going to be healthy, when am I going to be rich, when will I be out of debt, when will I just be able to pay my bills, when will I lose this weight, and so on. I always wondered when they were going to happen. I later learned that I was in complete control of the results in my life. I was and am, just like you, completely in charge of my happenings, including how I feel (but we won’t get into that in this post). When I realized that I had the ability to influence my life and the outcomes of my life, I had to learn how to make the changes. I then learned how to make the changes and my life has never been the same.

Growth and learning has been the key, initially. I have learned many things from all of the training that I have done and I have learned quite a bit from the teaching and coaching that I have done. Now my life is quite different, now that I have the comprehension of certain laws and principles, which I can thank for my advancement.

One of the laws that completely changed my life is the Law of Attraction. You may or may not have heard of this law, but know that it is tried, true and proven based upon science experimentation and studies, specifically Quantum Physics. The Law of Attraction is a sub-law, if there is such a thing, of the Law of Vibration.

As you may have learned, everything in this Universe is made of energy – this is where the Law of Vibration comes in. The Law of Vibration basically is the exact same thing – that everything is every and everything that is energy vibrates. That is the basics of the Law of Vibration.

To take the Law of Vibration to a new level, there are other particulars to know in order to manifest that which you want in your life. Interestingly, the world is created is by a consciousness or an observer. Science has proven that in order to turn the energy (the realm of the spirit world) into matter, it has to be observed to collapse the “wave function” (per the Coppenhagen Interpretation with Neils Bohr and Albert Einstein that the energy waves collapse into matter when observed). Furthermore, as the wave function is collapsed through the conscious observation, as one vibrates at that level of energy, it attracts more like energy (the Law of Attraction) until it is collapsed into the material manifestation of the desired outcome. Ultimately, the right energy with the conscious intention, coupled with enough time equals that which is desired to be manifest. There are other small factors that go into the equation that need to be done in a certain way, but the basics are that simple equation.

In my life, I have used these laws and principles to create some incredible results, sometimes intentionally and other times unconsciously. I have used these principles in a myriad of ways including to manifest a place to live, a free cup of Starbucks, a movie, to a significant other, the purchase of a new home, and even to winning a new mountain bike and a Ford Mustang. Ultimately, we always use these laws and principles to get that which we want, perhaps now is the time to intentionally use the laws and principles to get what you want instead of manifesting “on accident.”

Back to my idea of “when.” Know that things do take some time to materialize and no one really knows how long it really does take. I believe that “spontaneous materialization” can happen, to be honest with you, but I haven’t figured it out yet. I have hope, but for now, I will be grateful that I manifest the things that I want in time, and not be a spoiled brat because they do not happen instantly. Now my life is about enjoying everything that I have because once I get some great new thing, I create a new outcome that I would like so that there is always something great on the horizon for me and for you.

As I have continued to say, be grateful (and feel the emotions of gratitude) for what you have and what you want (as if you have already received them), and if you do these things you too can get anything that you can dream. You simply have to be willing to do the actions and stay focused on the outcome, while living at the highest level of positive vibration. This is truly a science and you too can live your life with the great things that you want for yourself.

Basically, stop asking, like I did, when will I have certain things and rather pay attention to this question, “when will you use the Law of Attraction to have the life of your dreams?” And then ask, “why not start now?”

I was thinking about this concept one day and it made sense to me – life is like a marathon. I take this perspective because of the many experiences in my life, some good and some bad. But all of my experiences have created my life, and I cherish those experiences because it is my life and I am where I am for a reason.

A marathon is very simple in its concept. You have an easy outcome, you know how far you need to go, and all you need to do is run in the right direction long enough and eventually you end up at the end – victorious! It’s really not all that easy to accomplish for the average person though.

Let’s think about it. Driving 26 miles in a car is a good effort, but it is not that far. In fact, you can drive 26 miles in a car on the highway in less than half an hour. 26 miles on a bike is a good effort, but you can easily accomplish it in less than a couple of hours at a nice easy pace. Running a marathon, that is quite different, and it takes a different perspective.

My belief is that everyone can finish a marathon. It may take you more time and different strategies to accomplish depending on your abilities. Ultimately, it is possible to go that distance. Simply know, that you too can accomplish 26 miles if you did it right and gave yourself enough time.

Truthfully, the distance is long, no matter who you are. The average person, assuming 12 – 15 minute miles would finish in 5 to 6 hours. This does not include the blisters from your shoes, the ache in your back, the sore knees from the jarring on the road, the chemical and nutrient imbalance in your body, amongst other challenges.

The challenges is in interesting point. Let’s face it, challenges do arise, just like my knee situation when I trained for the Chicago Marathon in 2006. What I learned like in many situations in my life is that when you are not able to get the result one way, you need to change your approach. Success and completing a marathon is a science – they take effort and time – as you know, life does take effort and a certain amount of time to see that outcomes as well.

When you have a goal or, hopefully more meaningful, an outcome, your efforts will not always produce the results that you want right away. You may be the best at what you do, however challenges in life arise that cause you to adjust to the circumstances. Thankfully, we as human beings are capable of adapting to situations in order to achieve our desired result. You are truly blessed with incredible capabilities; many times it is the psychology and the strategies that you use to adapt to and overcome the obstacles.

To focus on you, on your journey, you may need to reconsider some factors. Perhaps you need to get a part-time job? Maybe you need to sell something that you don’t want to? Maybe you need to do something that you don’t want to do? Or perhaps you need to stop doing something instead? Maybe you need to work harder or continue on the same path for a longer period of time? Perhaps you need to change your perspective? Perhaps you have miscalculated and set yourself up for failure by having an unrealistic outcome for the period that you have allocated? Could you be better trained? Do you need to attend a seminar, read a book, or take a class? Sometimes you need to end a relationship or start a new one. Maybe you feel that you need to start your own business, which will bring you to the glorious heights that you desire. What in your life is a “leap of faith” that you either need to consider or actually take? What might you need to do in order to change your current approach to eventually produce the results that you want?

Remember, you are the one in control of your life and you determine your outcome. Do you step up to the “race of your life?” Do you even get in the “race” in the first place? Maybe even just starting the “race,” no matter what the outcome, is a win for you? Are you alright with not winning, but rather finishing? You need to determine some things for yourself and take charge in your life.

As you have most certainly heard the expression from a speaker or from a presentation in your life – a person tends to overestimate what they can do in a year and they underestimate what they can do in three years. In fact, most never even give themselves a year and they quit after two months because they didn’t get the results. The reason that you didn’t give the results is that you didn’t do what it takes in order to get the results, and many times that means that you need to work long enough until you get the outcome!

Did you know that there are tribes who still believe in rain dances? And I believe that rain dances work too. You might think that is foolish, and that is illogical. The truth is, rain dances really work! There is a secret though… and here it is… the tribe dances UNTIL it rains! The continue to make the effort out of faith UNTIL they achieve their outcome!

What if you continued to “dance” with the circumstances of your life UNTIL you get the result? Where would your life be then?

Here are some things to consider. If you need to, get a coach. Model someone who has been successful at what you are attempting to accomplish. Continuously work in the direction of the achievement of that aim, just like a marathon runner works towards the finish line; a little bit at a time. And then, one day, after all of that effort, after all that hard work, you too will cross the finish line; the finish line in your life – tired, but VICTORIOUS!

Remember, life is a marathon, not a sprint!

Go For It!

May 30, 2008

Earlier in this month, May, 2008, I completed my first official half marathon. It was a long feat to be honest with you, but I completed it. The hills of northern Wisconsin were quite challenging and the cold and rainy weather added extra fuel to a quite interesting story.

My plan was to use a slow and steady, “turtle” strategy to conserve my energy for later in the race. I kept pace of approximately 11 and a half minute miles for the first 4 miles. Then the hills started in the fifth mile. Overall, I did great for the first 10 miles of which I completed in a respectable 2 hours and one minute, an average of a little over 12 minutes per mile. Then things got interesting.

At about the 10 mile marker the weather quickly deteriorated. The rain really settled in and the temperature dropped from 58 degrees at the start of the race to 48 degrees, which felt quite cool with the moisture. It went from cloudy, cool and comfy at the beginning of the race to cold, damp, and “I want to sit next to a fireplace” weather by the end of the race! Ultimately, the weather didn’t help my quest any.

The real battle started in the last 2 miles. Some of the hills returned again. I found myself walking more than I had early in the hills part of the race (which I deemed a good strategy for the hills because I couldn’t seem to run any faster than a walk up the hills anyways). The hills were pretty tough and this late in the run, I just didn’t seem to have the energy to keep going.

Even though I was fairly strong at the 10th mile, the 11th was noticeably more difficult. In the 12th mile, I really couldn’t wait for “this thing” to be over because it was significantly more difficult. Approaching the 13th mile marker, I thought that finishing was just a mere dream. Then glory presented itself and the hand of hope took me by the hand. This was the point where I saw the finish line in the distance as I rounded the bend at the 13th mile marker. I KNEW I could finish.

Now, I burst into a full sprint. Well, I mentally did, but I was really lucky that I was able to move my legs at all. Continually, my feeble legs churned. Even though I had run 13 miles (plus) at least a handful of times before, this was a real challenge because I hadn’t run this distance in almost two years because of my bad knee. With the end in sight, tired, blistered, uphill, with my bad knee, in bad weather, as my first official time ever, I pushed ever so hard.

My face showed the strain that I put on my body. It was obvious that I wanted the finish line and I wanted it badly! I pushed and pushed to get every second that I could. Never mind the nauseating feeling in my stomach that told me several times over the last mile to make the effort to remove anything from my digestive system. I wanted to finish strong! And that goal line was mine!

I almost didn’t think that I would make it. I planned to give it my all! At times I can be fairly aggressive, however, I didn’t know that I would actually reach this point in the race with all of the challenges I have faced. I just knew that I had to finish. I knew that I would crawl by my eyelashes if I had to, but here it was – this was the real, true realization of my goal! I did it! I finished with a really good time and an even better overall effort! I broke through the finish line at 2 hours, 42 minutes and 53 seconds!

When I crossed the finish line, I started to “lose it.” I started to cry. I couldn’t hold it in! It was a remarkable experience! It was truly amazing!

Truthfully, the run did take a slight toll on my body. As I said, I really pushed myself. For the record, I kinda ended up taking a ride to the hospital in an ambulance with a slight case of dehydration, slight hypothermia, and other minor challenges, but overall, I survived just fine. After a few treatments, I walked out of the hospital a few hours later victorious! – ready to eat a house! Overall, I accomplished my mission and I succeeded in reaching my goal!

Here are some questions for you and your life. When is the last time that you really pushed yourself? When have you last “gone all out?” When is the last time that you gave your all? When did you last work to finish a task that seemed nearly impossible? When is the last time that you started something that you had no idea that you could really finish or accomplish? When is the last time that you “dominated?!?!” Are you overdo for a repeat? Should you step up and do something that you know you should do and if so, what?

How great did you feel when you successfully got the result or at least gave everything that you had? That is the point! You are responsible for the outcomes and results in your life by your level of effort that you exert! You are the key variable!

As you already know, life takes interesting twists and turns. Not everything goes the way that you would like it to go and it certainly does not always go as planned. My belief is that if you are not “out there making things happen,” you will never know what beauty life holds for you. When you step up to the challenges in life, you will certainly live a life worth living!

As you live your life passionately, great things will be attracted to you and they will manifest in your life. Perhaps now is the time to start living your life – the life of your dreams!?!?

Out To Lunch!

April 16, 2008

One of the more interesting topics that I believe exists is that regarding the average person’s lunch “hour.” What is your lunch all about? What do you do during lunch? Clearly people from all walks of life use their time differently and this time says a lot about who we are and what our lives are all about.

Do you go away from the office to eat? Do you sit out in nature? Perhaps you sit in a Forest Preserve, on the beach or near a lake when you eat?

Do you read when you eat? Do you eat with a group of friends? Are these friends from work? Do you always or on occasion set up a lunch date with someone special and make the most of your time to be with a friend or loved one? How do you approach your time?

Is lunchtime just about eating? Are you focused on throwing food in your stomach as quickly as possible to just get it done? Is lunchtime about being away from work? Do you even eat at all or are you too busy? Do you eat at your desk so that you may get more things accomplished?

Is lunch a waste of time? Do you not eat at all? Do you get other work done? Do you take your laptop somewhere to get something accomplished like email, writing a note, or making a grocery list? Do you skip lunch so that you can end your day from work early?

We all do some of these things at different times. And it really is a matter of preference. Perhaps you should consider these other factors so that you are not too comfortable and complacent with life? How much more zest from live could you have if you were to do something different this next time you eat lunch?

What would your life be like if you were to do some things differently? How might your life be enhanced? How would that make you feel?

Appropriately put, I am writing this while I am at a restaurant eating. I believe that if I can get things accomplished while I chew that I am accomplishing more in the limited schedule that I have. Do I always work while I eat? No, I like to get things done with that limited time if I can, and ever so often I, simply, like a little variety at when I eat so that it isn’t the same “ole thing” every time.

Are we just talking about lunch here or are we perhaps talking about another “L” word, called life? What if you were to do some things differently in your life as a whole? What kind of life would you have? What if you made different choices and took different actions? Perhaps your life may take a little bit of a different turn, one small “lunch” at a time?

We all have the opportunity, regarding our resources and our time, to make certain choices. Hopefully you will make choices that begin to give you a level of results and pleasure that you want for your life!

Cheers!

We all have things in our lives that pose us great strife or difficulty. It is never easy to envision a time when things will be better, especially right in the midst of the turmoil. If we really think to our past, we must remember that nothing ever stays exactly the same and things do change.

I know for me, at times, things have been really tough. There is no doubt about that. I have had my fair share of difficulties and I know that you have too. I find that my perspective makes all of the difference. I always do my best to remember, yes, this is definitely bad compared some joyous times in my life, and to also remember that things have been much worse.

When things do get difficult, I make the best of the situation because that is my frame of mind. I think, this may be bad, but compared to what? I start thinking of all the horrible things that have happened in the world and to me, and I think, “this isn’t so bad!” “I have been through worse.” Remember the quote from the Bible, “this too shall pass.” That may help. Additionally, in regards to all of the difficult times, I like the quote from the character Morpheus in the movie Matrix III: Revolutions in his speech before the people go to battle, “I remember that which matters most, we are still here!”

Fortunately, the goodness does come from the undesirable, if you allow it. When things are great, be appreciative of what you have. That is my perspective. I am not perfect, but at least I make the conscious effort to always look for the bright side of things (and sometimes it is not necessarily right away too!). Things always do get better if you allow them.

As I write to you, I write from the beautiful first morning in my new home. I think back to all of the struggles that I have had over the years. From the several failed businesses, partners who have cheated me out of money, the lies, the bankruptcy, the horrible credit, being completely broke about 5 times in my adult life, being fired or “let go” 7 times, having companies withhold earnings, the ridicule, the scorn, the uncertainty of where I was going to live or where I would find food, the panic of not having money to put gas in my car to get home when I had just run out, and many others. These were all serious challenges that I had to face and I am sure that you have had them too.

Now, I remember the great things. After all of my serious challenges, I cherish finally getting a car again after the turmoil, finding a great woman who loves me dearly, getting my first credit card again, being able to consistently pay for my rent, to getting my first mortgage, to tripling my income over the past year, to now having a home that I didn’t think that I could have just 12 years ago. Things have come full circle and I am grateful for what I have. Now I look towards the future for all of the new great things that I can receive and, ideally, contribute to the lives of other people.

As I write this blurb I ponder…. I raise my gaze to the glorious distance. I relish in the beauty that I now see. I graciously anticipate the splendid abundance of that which is to come. Softly, I query of myself, what new, wonderful adventures lie ahead?

Here’s to new beginnings.

Learning To Trust Divine Guidance
Trial And Error
by Daily OM

Anyone who has asked for divine guidance knows that it can be challenging to trust it when it comes. This is because divine guidance comes in many forms and it is sometimes hard to locate it. We aren’t sure if we are meant to trust our thoughts, our feelings, our dreams, or our intuitions to be the carriers of divine wisdom. We are not sure if advice from a friend is the form in which the guidance has come into the world, or if our own opinion is the source of wisdom we need to take seriously.

The ability to sort all this out comes with trial and error, and the best way to learn to recognize divine guidance is to engage in the process of asking and receiving. Sometimes when we ask for guidance, we already have a sense of what we want to hear. At such times, receiving guidance can be difficult, because we don’t want to hear anything that appears to be in opposition to our desire. Therefore, one of the most important qualities we need to cultivate if we are to receive guidance is an open mind. It helps to acknowledge what we want, and then to symbolically set it aside, making room for whatever wisdom comes through to us.

Cultivating an active relationship with the divine is the essential ingredient to being able to receive and trust guidance when it comes our way. We can make a daily practice of this by using a set of runes, a deck of cards, or a pendulum. We can also use our journals, developing a relationship with the divine through the written word. As we request and receive guidance, we might take notes on our experiences. Over time we will begin to recognize when we were able to hear correctly and when we were not. In this way, we will gradually attune ourselves to our particular relationship with the divine. Begin to trust the guidance you are receiving and soon you will find it flowing with ease.  What do you think?

Who Is Moving Goal Posts?

February 2, 2008

Interestingly enough, we may plan our lives or a particular factor of our lives, unfortunately many times it is not sufficient. Things come up along the way and detours and redirecting routes will most always be necessary in order to reach your outcome. Ultimately, you are in charge and contrary to popular belief, you are responsible for your outcome!

Things may not always go the way that you want them to go, this is a known. You may have to adapt and overcome every obstacle that is presented. Some things may not even be related to any of your doing, regardless, if you want the outcome, you must tenaciously pursue its outcome because no one else will do it for you.

This has become very apparent in the world in general. Many people seem to be apathetic and uncaring. Nowhere else can a lackluster performance be found than in the service industry. In my opinion this is dominant regarding air travel. Airlines have become the most irresponsible business entities in the current world to date. I, unfortunately, have too many first hand experiences recently. Airlines continue to blame other factors which is simply their way of passing the buck. These stories mostly involved US Air and their inability to plan ahead, coordinate schedules, to keep the passengers happy with customer service, and not really helping you to achieve your outcome – this has at least been true for me.

In fact, it has gotten so bad that TWICE in the last 5 days I have not only experienced delays due to late flights, I have not only been bumped from planes, I have gotten bumped from an airport because of their scheduling or lack of planning and accommodation. Delays and cancelled flights are other obvious signs. The point here is that they do not plan and they do not focus on overcoming the obstacles, either pro-actively or even after a direct request.

The take home message is this – other parties in the course of your life are not going to care about you and your outcome as you do – they care about removing you as a challenge and moving on to the next topic because they want to have their job be easy and go home. This is why you will end up being bumped to an inconvenient, next morning flight. (…and is it possible that this can be a metaphor for life? I think it is.)

If you do not stand up and stand firm to your outcome, it will be perpetually delayed. In fact, you may never reach your outcome. Remember, you will need to rely on other people and to have a team to achieve your outcome, this is a must. Keep in mind Donald Trump’s philosophy of making sure that you mind your business because those who work with you and for you will never be able to do as good of a job as you will.

Remember, plans change. Sometimes the immediate destination changes. You need to keep to your plan and to your prize. Ultimately, if you continue to make corrections, focus on your outcome, and continually and passionately pursue your outcome, the result will be the manifestation of your dreams!

From Vic Conant

Chairman, Nightingale-Conant

(This experiment was performed in a San Francisco Bay area school by Dr. Robert Rosenthal of Harvard University.)

At the beginning of the school year, the principal called three teachers into his office.

And to these teachers he said, “As a result of your teaching excellence over the last three or four years, we have come to the conclusion that you are the best teachers in this school. And as a special reward to you, we have identified three classes each with 30 of the brightest students in this school — the students with the highest IQs And we’re going to assign them to you to teach for the entire year.

“Now, we don’t want to be accused of discrimination, so it’s very important that you do not tell these children in any way that you know that they’ve been selected for a screened class. And second of all, we’re not going to tell their parents, because we don’t want to cause any difficulties there. I expect you to teach exactly the same way you normally do and use exactly the same curriculum, and I expect you to get very good results with these students.

The results: At the end of the school year, these students led not only the school, but the entire school district in academic accomplishment.

Calling the three teachers into his office, the principal said:

“Well, you’ve had a very good year.”

“Yes we have … it was so easy,” replied the teachers. “These children were so easy to teach. They were so eager to learn; it was such a pleasure to teach them.”

“Well, maybe I’d better tell you the truth,” said the school principal.

“This has been an experiment, and those 90 children were chosen out of the school population at random. When I assigned them to your class at the beginning of the year, I had no idea what their IQs were at all.”

“That’s incredible!” exclaimed the teachers. “But how could it be that they scored so high? They did so well. They got such good grades. Ah hah! Yes! It must be because we are such excellent teachers.”

At which the principal said, “And I think I should also tell you the other side of the experiment. At the beginning of the school year, we put all the teachers’ names in a hat, and yours were the first three names that were drawn.”

The Law of Positive Expectancy —
The Secret to Achieving More

These average students did so well because of the Law of Positive Expectancy. This law states that you achieve what you expect to achieve and what others expect you to achieve. Since the principal expected a lot, so did the teachers. And, sensing that the teachers expected a lot, the students did too. Dr. Rosenthal repeated this experiment 300 times each time getting identical results.

“To achieve more, you have to expect more. And, to get more from the people who work for you, expect more from them.” It really is that simple.

Sincerely,

Vic Conant - Chairman, Nightingale-Conant

Get It Right!

January 13, 2008

One of the biggest mistakes by most people is their approach to life.  Their life is great, as long as they are happy, contrarily, most are not happy.  Given the opportunity most would take a break from their life and give new options a try.

The strategy for most is to “have” – they want to acquire things.  They want and they need to have everything.  Their ego pushes them to do certain activities, including excessive shopping, that do not support them.  The concept of having ample material goods in one’s life does not necessarily constitute an intelligent strategy to produce the results that any individual truly wants.

Anyone and everyone who wants to have more in their life needs to realize that a strategy exists for every accomplishment of a worthwhile aim.  The perspective tends to be “have, do, be.”  The challenge is that they tend to “do” and “be” the same person as before with the same patterns.  This is the reason why those that win the lottery end up with nothing in five years because they “had” and they were not a different person who did different things – their “do” and “be” are not in alignment.

The same person, one who has not changed, keeps doing the same things and producing the same results.  This strategy needs to change in order to create a different pattern and result.  Changing is very realistic, it is simply a matter of choice.

The first change is to consciously get the strategy right.  They need to be the right person first.  When you become the right person, you will then do things differently.  Once you then do things differently, you will manifest and create the life and results that you choose, not before.

Success and achievement is a pattern; it is a strategy.  When you consider and implement a new strategy, in this case the “be, do, have” strategy instead of the “have, do, be” strategy, you will generate massive results.  When the results begin to arrive, they will arrive nearly effortlessly in retrospect.

Start with the right strategies now and, in time with the right energy and efforts, you will certainly create the life that you desire!

 www.thelawofattractiongroup.com

Most individuals set goals at the stroke of midnight and never check in to see how they’re doing until the stroke of midnight the following year. This sets up a cycle of feeling like a failure, being disappointed with ourselves, and eventually, our minds, our friends and the universe at large begins to disregard our words because all of them realize (ourselves included) that there is no integrity and no power in them.

The greatest promise you’ll ever keep is a promise to yourself…

…Because it’s your own personal test of integrity (similar to integrated). When we’re out of integrity, we’re fragmented and lack harmony in our life physically, mentally and physically. We’re not whole.

The answer resides in the problem itself. We have a tendency to overestimate what we can do in a year and underestimate what we can do in a decade. Therefore, I encourage all to set what I call “teetering edge” goals and intentions.

“Push the edge,” but don’t “go over the edge.”

In other words, intentions on the teetering edge stretch you but aren’t so ridiculous that you know you won’t do them. An intentions that says, “I’ll workout every day,” is over the edge for someone who hasn’t worked out a day all year.

One that says, “I’ll workout three days a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5 PM,” is teetering, specific, measurable and therefore achievable.

“I’ll make $100K from $40K…” Over the edge. “I’ll make $50K…” Teetering.

“I’ll lose 50 pounds in 3 months…” Timber! “I’ll lose 50 pounds in 17 weeks (3 pounds per week)…” Teetering.

When we create intentions that are achievable (albeit not mediocre for the human spirit will not invest itself in mediocrity), then we set ourselves up to feel in integrity with our own hearts and minds. We feel accomplished and successful. Success perpetuates success.

To your continued wealth and happiness,
